The Importance of Self Love
Chasing love has never done me any good. I think of all the times I have expected other people to tend to my needs, emotionally, physically, and mentally. I realize the whole time I was missing one ingredient, self love. I get it. Most of us don't want to brave this world alone. We seek camaraderie. We want someone to share a life with. And it's perfectly okay to desire and achieve those things. However, I think one thing we all miss sometimes is loving ourselves first, because how can you expect to give something to someone that you don't already have for yourself? And we're all human! The ugly truth is that people cannot meet all of your needs all of the time. There are going to be times when you have to truly love you!

Can You Pick up the Pieces?
The story is too familiar. You are involved in a long term relationship or marriage. It usually starts out wonderful, full of joy and excitement as you pursue your hopes and dreams. You are ready to take on the world together. Then life happens. Stress at work; money issues; children’s needs; losing a job; issues with in-laws; health concerns. The list goes on and on. The feelings of joy starts to fade. You didn’t sign up for this! You stop communicating with each other, I mean really communicating and connecting, not just talking at each other. The relationship and your life become a grind. You start going through the motions.

Presence vs. Presents
Spending quality time with those you love... In a time where “things” seem to matter more than actually being there, it is so crucial to remember that some things can be cherished versus just for a little while. Time is the one thing that we cannot get back, but it is something that we can use either to build precious, sweet memories or be remembered for the times that we were distant and nowhere to be found. Sending sweet and thoughtful gifts in your time of absence is not a terrible thing, in and of itself, but when it replaces time together with your loved one, it diminishes the moments that could have been sweet with ash and blue feeling memories.

Things I Wish I Knew Before Entering a Long Distance Relationship
My boyfriend and I had a whirlwind, slightly too cheesy start to our relationship. We met during a year of being au pairs in Paris (how typical, right?) and proceeded to fall in love and spend every moment that we had outside of school runs and dinner preparation together, basking in this fresh, exotic love.

Your Only Way Out of Love Addiction
Your only way out of love addiction ... Imagine. You are drawn to someone. You start dating. You devote more of your time to the person. You communicate, exchange thoughts and emotions, you form a couple, you help each other develop and learn. You feel great, you are so full of energy that you think you can conquer the world. The way your body works is it releases energy whenever you find something exciting or interesting, and you can use this energy to boost your “resources.” Love serves as a source of inspiration.
