Top 3 Simple Shawl Patterns
Knitting was one of the top hobbies that some people worked on during their time in lockdown due to the current COVID pandemic. The other hobby was exercise. But while I have been knitting since 2017, I branched out into shawls when I moved to Saint Augustine in 2018. I learned pretty quickly that North Florida does get colder. Shawls are the best thing you could ask for when working downtown by the water.

Savoring the Moments
I absolutely LOVE scrapbooking! Of all the creative things that I like doing, scrapbooking is hands down my favorite. Do you know what scrapbooking is? Scrapbooking is a 2.5-billion-dollar industry. There are over 3,000 scrapbooking stores nationwide in the United States, serving 25 million scrapbookers. For those who don’t know, scrapbooking is a way to preserve photographs and other memorabilia in books instead of digitally or worse yet, in an old shoebox somewhere. Full disclosure – I am a Creative Memories consultant, mainly because I love the enduring quality of their products. However, none of that explains why I am a scrapbooker. Simply put, scrapbooking connects me to the past, preserves the present and reminds me of God’s presence, provision and promises in my life. Scrapbooks help me to remember that my life has been and is beautiful.

A Beautifully Flawed State of Imperfection
I carefully wrap thread around the needle and push it back through the fabric, gently holding the thread to guide it into a perfect French knot. What results is a tangled blob with random loops shooting out every which way. Definitely not French.

Capture the Wind
I take a deep breath, wrap my hands around the ball of clay and press down on the pedal. It is late at night or early in the morning, and if I am really fortunate, a daytime visit to the studio. The clay jerks my arms in rhythm with the rotation. My palms press firmly into the top and side surfaces of the clay.

Ms. Sunshine
There’s a scratched up, medium-sized table in my bedroom. It stands next to my bed, and beneath that is my pink yoga mat. Pink is my second favorite color (I think we all have more than one favorite type). Yellow comes first for me. Thus there is Ms. Sunshine.
