happiness
Happiness, defined; things that help you find happiness, keep it, and share it with others.
The Art Critic
I don’t find anything more beautiful than the mind of an artist. We are creators, dreamers, thinkers and more. What I’ve always heard about artists though, is how we are more sensitive to our emotions, whether we are more open to feel them or they are felt more intensely. This has been known for a long time, we know this from Van Gogh, Michelangelo, and so on.

Falling in Love with Yourself
I am a 32-year-old woman. My body feels older than that though. I know how that sounds to people who are older. However, unless you have several different medical issues going against you, you wouldn't know how it feels to be 32 years young and not feel energetic and full of life. You may try several different things to bring back your youth but in reality, there isn't anything that can turn back time. There isn't a magic potion or pill. In life, all we really have is a mirror and photos of the past. Yet, if we dwell on all the negative things that we have had happened in our lives, we become a shell of the person we use to be. That isn't good for anyone.

One Day Closer to You
So I was picking up my favourite Vietnamese takeout one typical Friday night, and the owner - who I know reasonably well since he is the one feeding my addiction- asked me why I was “so dolled up” and if I was getting up to some Friday night excitement. I laughed and told him I was going to eat my takeout order for one alone on my couch, but thanked him for the compliment… I feel like many single women destined to spend a Friday night alone would have been crushed by this comment. I’m grateful for the strength and humour I’ve gained over the years to help me laugh these things off instead of fleeing into the arms of an instantly gratifying dating app.

To My 30-Year-Old Self
As we age, we expect that our wisdom will come from the lessons that lie ahead. Society has conditioned us to believe that the older we are, the wiser we are. We don't ever imagine that our younger selves could teach us lessons even 10 years later. Here, in my mid-20s, is where I think my most valuable lessons will come. So why not share what I have learned so far with my 30-year-old self?

Keep Your Expectations Low
I always thought that life was this wonderful thing where you get to reach your limitations but there were also no limitations, that you can achieve anything in this world because it gives you what you want and the world is a fair and honest place. Damn, was I wrong.

The Promise of Patience
Patience, that’s something I’ve always heard is a virtue, but I’ve never really learned too much from it, or thought that living an ultimately patient life style is conducive to our modern society. Which in turn puts me in a position where patience is not on my list of top ten things I love. But as we all know if you lack patience, you will never hold out for all the good coming your way.

Journal Entry #1
January 15th There's something about a new journal. The way the blank pages lay perfectly flat against each other. The fresh, blank lines waiting to have a purpose. To be filled with your deepest thoughts and rawest emotions. There’s something about the smell of the paper as you fan out the pages. Dragging your thumb across the straight edge of each clean sheet. There's something comforting in the strength of its sleek, stiff spine. Still unbroken and strong. Ready to carry the weight of your life in its binding.
