California's Got it All

I live in Los Angeles California 

The second largest city in the U.S.

Allow me to share some things about my state 

And why I think it's the best

I need to help folks understand

The truth about life in Cali

It's more than just the drugs and crime

Or a heated immigration rally

*

It's easy to see how entertainment and media 

Can often influence what we feel

We form wrong opinions about people and places

Based on innuendo and not what's real

*

So before you decide in your mind in advance

And form the wrong conclusion

Let me tell you some other things about my state

These are facts and not an illusion

*

It's highly populated second only to New York

In L.A. you can always find a crowd

While some places are quiet and a bit serene

For the most part the city is loud

*

Los Angeles and Hollywood are popular areas

And outsiders come visit these places 

But California has much more to offer to tourists

Then sports, actors, and pretty faces

*

We may have our fires and floods and mudslides

And every so often a huge quake 

But every state has natural disasters 

Thinking otherwise is a mistake

*

This liberal progressive and trend setting state

Helps to make and change important laws

We're proud of our multi-cultural population 

It's good here in spite of the flaws

*

From tech to agriculture our state can be proud 

The silicone valley is what we're famous for

We do our part to help shape the world's future

Compared to some states we do more

*

San Francisco, San Diego, Santa Barbara, Palm Springs

Oh the places you can go in my state

The beaches, the mountains, the valleys are close

To the nature loving person this is great

*

You can get away somewhere to be by yourself

Or be around people instead

There are endless things to see and do

No matter which direction you head

*

More people and places and things to do 

Makes life more interesting and fun

And there's no denying the joy that can come

From the warmth of the California sum

*

So before you point fingers and bad talk this state

The high cost of living and high prices

California is one of the best places to be 

Especially when the world is in crisis
