Fear of Dying
Does everyone fear this? Maybe we all do

Fear of Dying
The fear of dying lingers,
it whispers in the night.
A shadow at the corner,
a weight I cannot move.
It asks me silent questions,
of when and where and how.
It presses close against me,
until my breath is short.
The fear of dying grows,
each time I close my eyes.
I wonder if tomorrow,
will truly come for me.
I see the faces fading,
of all I cannot keep.
The fear of dying robs me,
before my time has gone.
Still the dawn keeps breaking,
and still the sun will rise.
The fear of dying trembles,
beneath the light of day.
I try to hold to courage,
to live before I go.
For death will come regardless,
but life is here today.
The fear of dying stays,
a guest I cannot banish.
But I will not be silenced,
by what I cannot stop.
And when the hour finds me,
I hope my hands are steady.
The fear of dying ends,
where peace and love begin.

Nice thought-provoking poem, Marie. Maybe I am strange, but I don't have a fear of dying. My only concern is who looks after the people and my two little girls (my dogs), who depend on me.
I believe we all have that fear but believing in Jesus and then seeing maybe your parents and family that have gone before makes it a little easier.
