Once,
the night used to scare me
the coldness of the shadows; haunting dreams that would keep me awake
the echoes of lost souls to bare their teeth onto me
until I found a light in the distance
walking, running, towards it
it's warmth cascades all over my body
pure ecstasy; the echoes couldn't follow,
couldn't taunt,
couldn't feed off of me
a lantern with the angelic glow surrounds me
know you are not alone in this dark cold
whispers around in the air
I am guided through the forest by the lantern; the end is near
and I am not afraid of what the darkness holds.

Pearl
1980 something. we all hung out at Pearl and you and i were nothing special, or so i thought. i mean we all danced, drenched in our own sweat, our own saline solution of fear, too many beers, shots, laughter, tears, fucks in the bathroom and i don't know when we began to be afraid. do you?
