I Got A Kitten's Love

And I still remember it

The kitten @Seema

That night, late at work,

I couldn’t go home.

A kind colleague,

offered to host,

I had no choice—

I slept on her couch,

as a last minute guest.

Her black, sweet kitten

welcomed me warmly,

rubbing against my shins.

He sat near my shoulder,

as I tried to sleep.

Fearing scratches and bruises,

I covered my face.

In the stillness of night,

I heard him play,

with straps of my backpack,

teasing, curious,

pouncing, rambunctious.

At some point,

he put his plush toy,

on my shoes.

When I woke up,

I felt something,

heavy and warm,

on my both feet.

It was the kitten,

sleeping on the blanket.

It melted my heart,

I was a stranger—

But the poor animal,

lonely and seeking love,

grasped the opportunity,

with quiet trust,

dozed off at my feet,

winning my heart.

I still remember him—

years later,

For showing me,

genuine acceptance, and

memorable hospitality.

Good job in sharing this memory. I am a dog person, but cats seem to come up to me and go in and out and around my legs and when sitting they will sit or lie beside me.
