I Thought, I Needed Money
While my subconscious sought stability

I am from humble background,
money was always insecurity.
I worked very hard—
three decades of academics
in science and technology.
I did not take shortcuts,
dedicated work till midnight,
but still, no job, budget tight.
Often, I wonder about it—
as if destiny whispered to me,
everything for you, but not money,
it can corrupt you, honey.
I have a capable spouse
and smart kids, a pretty house
with flora-rich neighborhood,
love for art, a garden to tend,
lots of blessings in my quiver,
just not full coffer.
I realize, my current situation,
is product of my own decisions.
for I did not chase prosperity,
the subconscious needed stability.
