Listen to Freedom, WRITE ON!

It's a job, or am I a bot? Am I real, or am I not?

Do I truly love my role, managing people I do not know?

Does what I say affect your views, am I able to put a tag on you?

Have I the power to ruin your day, to make you question your poetic ways?

~

Writer's write cause it's our passion, in or out we're in fashion

If we speak what's on our minds, must we watch our own behinds?

Art never should be repressed, what we think will be expressed!

We deserve every right to ponder and question

Are we marked for our suggestions?

The hippies had it right, freedom of everything. Unfortunately humans are not wired for hearing both sides, some non repression is best done in private or in secret. But it should be done.

Art shouldn't be repressed (okay, to a degree). Unfortunately, not everyone agrees.

  • Well-wrought! You can't go wrong with Jimi! Of course, I loved the radio play stuff but when I first listened to the album Electric Ladyland in headphones from beginning to end, it changed my teenage mind, opening vistas of awareness. In a manner of speaking, we are marked by our impulse to create. They say the greats, like Robert Johnson, made a deal with the devil, but I suspect the truth is we fight the devil every step of the way to full self-realization. I imagine Johnson or Jimi putting the devil to shame at the crossroads, perhaps winning a golden guitar rather than a fiddle... "I done told you once, you son of a bitch, I'm the best that's ever been."

  • Totally agree that art should never be repressed! Loved your poem!

Oo, lots to think about here. I think you might've just put some fire back in my own writing! Great job on this!

Excellent questions. I personally think that we are marked by our experiences.

  • Good questions! Scared of the answers.

  • Totally agree with you and too many times the people who provide the platform show they don't have a clue
