Looks Don't Last

The woman was pretty,

and she knew it.

Wherever she went,

compliments followed—

she wanted more.

She magnified her beauty

with cosmetics layers,

She went under scalpels,

for sculpted looks,

again and again.

Endorsements promised,

she indulged temptations,

before long, in her body,

inflammation ignited.

Reckless assaults for years

sped up wear and tear

She aged faster,

her face turned horror.

The very peers,

she once mocked

now looked better,

and felt healthier.

She suffered low self-esteem,

preferred to live,

a life of recluse, away,

from limelight, and applause.

So, don’t be boastful—

Looks don't last,

embrace humility and

natural rhythm of aging,

it's wise and graceful.
