Mother's Day poem take two
An updated version of my Mother's Day poem from last year.

Dear mother,
In the first light, at my first cry,
You held me to your breast, your heartbeat my lullaby.
You held me tight, held me dear,
Smiled at my smile, brushed away my tears.
Throughout the years we fought,
We laughed,
We fought some more,
But every night after, I still kept on loving you,
On this I swore.
You have been my rock,
My lighthouse
In a bleak, bleak land.
But you guided me through it,
Holding my little hand.
And even when we are both old and grey,
I will only have this to say:
“I will never hold this love for another,
As long as you remain my mother.”
Happy Mother’s Day,
May you have plenty more to come.

I started writing because it was a good outlet for a lot of reasons. But I love writing. I love having others read my work. I love hearing feedback. Someday, I want to turn my work into a book.
