Ragdoll

I teach my kids to embrace frugality

By Seema PatelPublished 9 months ago 1 min read
Ragdoll in shoebox made by my kid daughter @Seema

Money is the root,

of endless problems,

so, we must not be its slave.

Frugality is a good way

to reach that goal,

and not corrupt soul.

So, I encourage my kids

to not be demanding,

and be imaginative

with things at their disposal,

it's a virtue to be frugal.

I was telling my daughter

that she doesn’t need

a lot of expensive toys.

I shared how in old times,

people were money-poor,

and kids played

with whatever they had.

I told her of a kid

who played with

a rag doll in a shoebox,

as her only toy,

and still found joy.

She listened attentively,

and quickly made one,

placed it in a shoebox,

and showed me.

It made me proud,

a highlight of the day.

She got the essence.

She just learned,

a beautiful life lesson

that will be her savior

as we head into

times of economic crisis,

frugality can bring bliss.

This is a lesson I would like to teach my son when he's old enough to understand.
