The Harbour and the Skiff

A breakup nonet

By Hannah MoorePublished 2 years ago โ€ข 1 min read
Runner-up in Breakup Nonet Challenge

I was out to sea, toes scuffing sand,

You stood on the shore, line in hand,

And at its end, me, facing

Deeper blue and calling

You, to wade to me.

You gave me slack,

I swam through

Parting

Waves.

Oh, the imagery in this, Hannah - it's so beautiful! I could clearly imagine the scene in my mind, which is incredibly hard to accomplish with such a limited style and medium! Really well done. Congrats on your placement!! <3

  • Oh my, parting waves, i especially loved that!

The parting is both sad and courageous. I very clever use of metaphor. It made me reflect, which I always enjoy.
