The lesson you'll never learn

The lesson you'll never learn. Title in the product, right?

Much like the arrogance you still portray under dim light.

Like the way you'll never learn wrong from right.

Like the way you'll never learn how to say I love you and mean it with every being of your soul, right?

Like the way you'll never understand sacrifice, the screaming into the silence, the prayer to make it through the night.

Like the way you'll never learn the lessons taught, the way your mind shifts and stretches under the agony of another moonlight.

Like the way you watch the light leave your eyes, repeatedly, while your brain continues to switch from flight or fight.

Like the way the internal shift was so great, the body aches endlessly, for days, months and relentless sobbing nights.

Like the way acceptance came and made the body shake, knowing it was the only way to break the chain.

Like the way knowledge broke through and emotions no longer dictated how the day was to drag through.

Like the way sun shined the day the light broke through; illuminating the reason and gave the answer I'd searched for.

Like the way it all connected and finally, the tunnel was clear and outside, the grass greener and more of solitude, happiness, cheer.

Like the way the path grew specific, organized and abundant;

Like the way she grasped the reigns and with courage, finally took it.

Like the way she didn't break, the way she built from the pain;

Like the way she accepted her faults, took accountability and made the change.

Like the way she'll hold evolving over settling, this day and every day forth.

Like the way she's accepted the shun and treated it as a blessing;

Like the way she paved this future and you'll never reach it.

Like the way she doesn't let fear and illusion dictate her path;

Like the way she determines to alchemize the villain you falsified.

Like the way she still did it all right, without you by her side;

Like the way she learned her lesson and did better, right?

Like the way she didn't miss a birthday, or a graduation, or a cookout;

Like the way she never gave excuses or tried to drown anyone out.

Like the way she cleaned your mess up, excusing your behavior and then some;

Just to hear how unequivically unaccepted she would become.

She learned the things your notarious for overlooking; over-calculating your role,

She learned to pivot your moods and submit when the dice wouldn't roll.

She traded your comfort for realizing her worth;

Now she's the problem, the excuse, the thwart.

Did you ever occur, maybe this is your doing?

That maybe your arrogant conceit brought this world burning?

It was never about the store bought packages, wrapped in the nicest paper;

It was the connection she needed, the model of what a man was.

Was it easier to disguise the face or the lie?

Did you ever feel guilt fill your chest? Like the way she cried after you left?

Gasping, gagging, choking on the tears and loss of breath.

Do you hold any regret? Do you ever wish you never left?

Ever wish you put just a bit, a bare minimum, moment of effort?

To know her? To learn?

Was that also the burden? Switching from nurture to abandon?

Or was she simply, meant to be different and you tossed what she wasn't worth?

Do you ever wonder if she'd accept your apology? Have any belief?

Do you think she'd request your dying words and to honor your grave?

Do you think she'd relief her grief upon your stone;

Another day of drinks and mourn-

Or do you think she'd forget the time and day?

Would she repay your negligence with the same, absent-

"happy birthday"
