My Experience in Japan
Ever since I was little, I always felt that Japan was my home. It was strange, I was born and bred in jolly old England. I always felt as if I was from another country. I liked my tea without milk and sugar and I preferred spontaneous meals and food as opposed to the traditional meals. I also loved green tea, Battle Royale, Sushi, Pokémon, Sailor Moon, and other iconic manga/anime like Naruto and Digimon. What did they all have in common? They all originate or at least are associated with Japan! When I studied Japan in Geography I became interested in the country even more. I loved the sound of the cherry blossom trees and trains that actually came on time. I thought that Japan would be a perfect place to visit too.

48 Hours in Beijing
When limited to only 48 hours in a major capital city like Beijing, it can be overwhelming to narrow down what you want to do with your time there and not everyone is lucky enough to have a school friend bribed into being your personal guide round the city (see Bethan on the right). Luckily, by having a friend living in the city, I got to experience some fun and unusual things that I wouldn't have thought to do otherwise in Beijing.

Traveling to Hong Kong for the First Time
Hong Kong is an evocative blend of its colonial past and its Chinese present. The main island is a fantastic visual of tall skyscrapers competing with each other to reach up high. The lights from these reflected in the glittering waters of the bay are an impressive sight at night. The luxury hotels are sometimes old colonial houses and can be a marvel to visit and may transport you to a different era.

Rolling The Dice On Vietnam
February, 2017 Phu Quoc, Vietnam Earlier in 2017 I had a three week vacation coming up. I was getting off a ship in Singapore and had to be in Sydney for my next assignment. I was pondering where in Asia to spend my long vacation. Unable to make a decision I took to a strategy I had read about in a book a long time ago. I rolled the dice on it! First I asked my colleagues on the ship to suggest 6 countries in the area and we appointed a number to each country. The dice fell on Vietnam and my decision was made.

Temple Hopping in Thailand: Must Do's!
Wat: a term given to Buddhist or Hindu temples in Thailand, and other parts of Southeast Asia. Thailand has an abundance of wats (with all respect and for scaling purposes only, one may refer to them as the Starbucks of Thailand). Many of them are "must-sees" for their ornate architecture and more so, for their highly coveted sightings of monks in orange robes. But it can be tricky to pick and choose which of the many wats are worth visiting, especially if you're a backpacker on a tight schedule.

Things I Remember About Tokyo . Top Story - December 2017.
Ever since I was little and started getting into anime, it was always my lifelong ambition to go to Japan. In July 2015, I made that dream into a reality and I think it was one of the best trips of my life and the country's capital has left an everlasting impact on me. Tokyo was one of those places that I knew I would love before even stepping one foot in the city and now that I've been to Tokyo, I think I can say that it's one of my favourite cities in the world. There's a lot of things I remember and most of it feels like a neon blur, but there are some very vivid memories of Tokyo and many fun stories I've been able to share.
