Sitting in my bedroom, a makeshift space in the attic of my middle school home, I couldn’t help but think about the news I just heard a few hours ago. Distraught from hearing my grandmother passed away, I couldn’t quite process it. I didn’t cry, I certainly wasn’t happy, I just remained sitting at the edge of my bed in silence. This would become part of my daily routine for less than a week, up until her funeral. But about a day or two before that would happen, I finally decided to open my journal for the first time in a week and try and write something.

An all-female gathering of hammerhead sharks, with their strange behavior intimately linked to the moon cycle, has been observed in recent years by an international team of experts.

Middle School Fanfiction
The first thing that I had ever wrote was fanfiction. When I was about fourteen or thirteen years old. It was something that I was extremely proud of. I think it had been something about DragonballZ. Like a self-insert or something to that effect, it's been too long. I'm not really certain that I remember the character. I do know that I had bad grammar and really terrible spelling skills. Also, I hadn't properly formatted it compared to how I write right now.
