I (almost) Dropped Out of my Google Data Analytics Certification
Every student always commences their studies with good intentions, as well as usually making a few sacrifices along the way. Whether you are going to college, or you have enrolled in a small micro-credential like yours truly did; a fact of life is that things do not always go according to plan. According to the Education Data Initiative, 32.9% of college undergraduates do not end up completing their degree. There are many more who would have mentally and/or emotionally checked out of their studies at one point or another; yet manage to continue to persevere and do whatever it takes to pass, and to not drop out.

UX Design Portfolio Project 2: Coffee Drinkers App
Case study: Maximising users enjoyment of specialty (Campos) coffee The Problem: Users love their coffee. The research conducted came to the conclusion that 66% of users interviewed enjoy 2-3 cups of coffee a day, equating to around 14-21 cups of coffee a week. Users want to enjoy their coffee for a myriad of reasons; yet they’re not willing to spend any more than $4 for a cup of coffee - even for a large; and yet they still want to consume a quality, speciality coffee bean. These users are busy people and professionals such as Lawyers who are time poor, and of who appreciate the benefits that drinking coffee provides them.

Revealed: The Top 5 Most Danceable Taylor Swift Songs on Spotify
The abundance of people ensuring a seamless Internet connection, and possibly combined with goodness knows how many hours of annual leave was used up to book pre-sales tickets to her Eras Tours; it really got me thinking of a relevant project for my Data Analytics studies, where I was tasked with creating a Data Viz in Tableau on any topic I wanted. Music is the fabric of our lives, and therefore I wanted to explore the beat category.

How the UX Design Thinking Process is Applied to Data Visualizations in Data Analytics
With empathy in mind (to begin with); the data visualization in the opening image is great, except for one crucial thing. Can you figure out what that is? It is the use of Christmas colours together, of which is not ideal for those who are colour blind, and for users (in UX Design) and stakeholders (in Data Analytics) with any form of disability impediment. According to Colour Blind Awareness, over 350 million people worldwide are actually colour blind. (On the other hand, the exception to this rule would apply to visualizations' on world maps, for example with global CO2 emissions.) For those of you lovely readers who write for Vocal Media; you will be pleased to know that the bar chart in our writers statistics page is a great example of a Data Visualization gone right. Why? The y-axis starts at zero, because the number of readers reading your work is unknown at any given moment in time; and (furthermore) the bars are easy to spot trends, and most of all, to read.

That Ikigai Book
This is the book that yours truly is talking (literally raving) about in the opening image of this article. I kind of have my work on social media to thank, for helping one really get in touch with her Ikigai. Who knew that one simple book could be packed full of wisdom, gems, and other tips for living a life on "purpose." And it is not dry and academic, as would be the norm (and maybe even the expectation) of some of those types of books. For example, and much respect to Stephen Covey (in more ways than one, and thank you for your work); yet one is still stuck on what the seven highly habits of effective people actually are.

Why Writing is so Difficult, but Worth its Weight in Gold. . Top Story - August 2023.
Breaking into the writing profession (whether freelance or otherwise) is far from easy. Then again, I was not searching for the writing profession to accept with me with open arms. The profession came to me. In case you are wondering; the structure of this is part memoir, part wisdom.

Harmonious Simplicity
Kelly is a young, ambitious Interior Designer who seems to be having a quarter life crisis, and therefore is finding herself in a fork in a road kind of position. Life is overwhelming, combined with the added pressure to keep her head just above water in her work, as well as being unable to keep her one-bedroom apartment as clean as she would like it to be. Appearing to be successful on the outside, Kelly is craving the simple life, where peace and tranquility would be the by-product of such. Enjoying some rest on a mixed-weather of a weekend; Kelly finds an art deco like bookstore, and decides to grab a cup of joe by the window-side at the shops cafe. From there, Kelly finds inspiration in finding a Marie Kondo book to help her identify the things that bring, and that no longer brings joy during the tidying up process. A decluttering situation is the ace card here.

Constructive Criticism Makes You a Better Writer & Human Being
Egos aside, who doesn't love a five star review on their work. Depending on the context, such reviews can either be helpful, or they can rightly downgrading, depending on what was said in such reviews. Earning a Top Story award on Vocal Media (and appropriately enough; speaking of things being in fives rather than threes); it has been fifth time successful for yours truly in that regard. Moreover, I digress. Successful outcomes as a by-product of your writing work; from winning a Top Story award on Vocal Media, to achieving yet another payout on Stripe, and even gaining new subscribers out of the blue; would such milestones in producing such quality workmanship be the keys towards being open to some constructive criticism/feedback on your work the majority (if not all) of the time? Absolutely.
