See photos at end The last time we saw, the boys lacrosse team they led 9-8 lead over Yorktown with 90 seconds to go in the Section One Semifinals. The Wolves were unable to hold onto the lead and lost 10-9 in overtime. Ten months later, Coach Mike Bocklet only see positive residue from the pain.

The Wedding Singer has Somers Walking on Air
On Friday night March 24, the Somers High School Drama Club put on the musical production of The Wedding Singer, and without question, the audience stirred to the sound, the uplifting beat and endearing love story. Of course, the reception is never a given, and lead actress Caitlyn Stellwagen voiced the realization of what it meant to actually hit the high notes.

Somers Rockers Make Music on the House at the School of Rock
One great show can change the world, according to Jack Black in the School of Rock. Maybe, but without a doubt, the world Andrew Tatela lived in changed when he first performed live. “Once I played in front of a crowd, that was it,” said the Somers High School senior, and with a group of fellow Tuskers, they’re making a mark with our own School of Rock in Bedford.

John Jay Stands Tall in Second Round Win versus Hillcrest
On Friday March 10, the John Jay Howlers matched up against Hillcrest in the second round of the Tri-County Basketball League playoff. After an even up game in the early going, the visitors jumped out to a nine point lead on the strong play of Luke DeSola and Owen Farrell, and it looked like the game was going to get away. But John Jay refused to worry about appearances, and when the final buzzer sounded, Hillcrest were the ones who got the dress down.

John Jay Tri-County Championship Games
5/6 Team Wins Championship After defeating Yorktown 55-20 on Saturday, March 11, the John Jay Howlers lined up with Mamaroneck for the finals of the Tri-County Basketball League. The Championship at stake, the drama didn’t last very long at the House of Sports in Ardsley on Sunday.

See Photos at end Last year, John Jay played to about a .500 regular season, and beat Somers in the first round of the sectionals. “We didn’t start off great, but by the end of the season we were rockin and rollin and played well,” said Head Coach Steve DelMoro. The Wolves lost to Mahopac in the next round, though, and while the 8-1 defeat was disappointing, the coach thinks this year’s biggest concern speaks well to the new season.

A Lot Like the Varsity, John Jay 5/6 Team Wins First Round Game Versus Mahopac
With the spotlight off the sports scene at the high school, the youth teams are stepping up and filling the void. The girls Tri-County Basketball travel team did the honors versus Mahopac on Thursday, March 2 at Lewisboro Elementary and definitely didn’t leave the fanbase feeling empty handed afterwards.

Part XI : It Could Only Happen in Plattsburgh (or NYC)
It was my senior year, and I had reached my limit. I could navigate the day time as well as any of my male contemporaries. In class, in the library, or roaming the college center, I could engage girls like I wrote the book on flirting and setting things up for future reference. But once night fell and the witching hour struck, my brew had no idea how to capitalize on all the previous goodwill and work. I couldn’t close the deal - even when the deal was closed for me.

After Setting the Table so Perfectly, Star Trek VI Fell Flat as Action Adventure Movie
Star Trek VI is the last of the original series movies and most Trekkies really like the final installment. In fact, Michael Bodhi Green of Looper thinks it’s the best one in the lot. That’s a far cry from my opinion so brace yourself. I think the Undiscovered Country is almost unwatchable, and whenever I tune in, I’m kind of embarrassed for the schlocky manner in which the first generation was sent off.

Robotic Competition at John Jay Brings Together Team from Across the Area
On Saturday, December 10 in the John Jay High School cafeteria, 11 teams across Westchester, Dutchess and Putnam County took part in an informal robotics competition. About 75 students in total, the gathering was meant to lead into more formal competitions as the school year progresses. But the task at hand still put the neural nets of both man, woman and machine to the test.

Bedford Rec Department Holds Senior Art Exhibit at the Bedford Hills Community House
On Friday, January 20, the Bedford Recreation and Parks Department held a reception for seniors who have been taking part in the Arts and Crafts Studio. For 55 and over area residents, the art was proudly displayed on the walls of the Bedford Hills Community House and so were the smiles. That said, the gathering was pretty low key and commensurate with the basic curriculum at hand.
