Hermit's Kingdom
If you're new here: This is a blog series giving LGBTQIA+ people's perspectives on the Tarot cards. Tarot is a set of symbols added on to a deck of playing cards, depicting a spiritual journey, to be used for meditation or fortune telling. Catch up with the characters we've met on the journey so far by clicking on these links for The Fool, The Magician, The High Priestess, The Empress, The Emperor, The Hierophant, The Lovers, The Chariot, and Strength. The particular version that's thought of today as the basic traditional Tarot, from which the myriad of decks are influenced and inspired, was drawn by mixed race bisexual lady Pamela "Pixie" Colman Smith, whose insights I'm sure made it into this art commission given her by straight white men, whatever their expectations of her might have been. So I've asked LGBTQIA+ Tarot users in online groups to give me their viewpoints on the cards, and the result is this series of blogs.

Lovers' Leap
I've been away from my Queer Tarot series for what feels like forever, because - well, because life. But I'm back! For those of you just joining us, the story so far: Tarot is a set of numbered pictures, figures and symbols on playing cards, telling the story of a journey - and used for centuries to look from a different perspective at our own story, our own journey. The figure taking the journey is The Fool, and you can read my piece on them Here. And the faces they've met so far on their journey, as I write this series one card at a time, are the Magician, the High Priestess, the Empress, the Emperor, and the Hierophant - click on the links to read them at your leisure, and I'll met you back here.

The Complete History of St. Olaf, Minnesota (according to Rose Nylund). Top Story - January 2022.
St. Olaf Township, Minnesota, USA, is a real and, I'm sure, lovely place - but it's most famous for being the fictional hometown of Golden Girls' Rose Nylund, played by the incomparable Betty White - whose nonsensical tales of her backwards Norwegian-American homestead provided at least some explanation for how she grew up so adorably dim.
