SDCC Recap
SDCC was filled with lots of announcements which of course everyone who wasn’t there has heard about by now. But hearing it from the people actually granting us more nerd content was a truly wonderful experience. Plenty of things social media has already jumped on but I want no nerd left behind! So I just wanted to recap what I thought were the most important announcements from SDCC to make sure that all of my fellow nerds are caught up. From Felicia Day to Invincible we have a lot to talk about.

SDCC Recap
Sunday, our last day of comic con was the slowest day of the weekend (which was a good thing because I was absolutely exhausted from the rest of the weekend) but it was also an amazing ending to an amazing weekend. We got to spend more time in the exhibit hall and we got to experience some more amazing fan experiences.

Navigating the Film Festival Scene
As we venture through the captivating world of cinema, we yearn for authentic experiences and genuine connections. For aspiring filmmakers, the film festival circuit is a realm of dreams, but it can also be a maze of challenges. In this journey, one in a hundred filmmakers possess the remarkable traits of being real and genuine. Unfortunately, the industry isn't without its flaws, as ego problems seem to haunt many who work in film. It's a place where compliments flow, but true intentions often hide behind a facade of camaraderie.

Living in a Fantasia
A confession here: I have only completed my third day volunteering with the Montreal Fantasia Film Festival. I had promised myself to write more than the daily entry in my private journal. This was for many reasons: 1) I had never volunteered to help with a festival before, and I could think of no other way to get involved with one beyond travelling to Toronto, New York, or parts of Europe for such an event; 2) my summer was winding down and I could not bear to just plan a new course with my own calendar and outline from a new textbook (always more to learn); 3) there was not much else to distract me, besides online teaching and the distraction of my cellphone; and 4) I wanted to know what was going on behind the scenes. So…

The Greatest, Exciting Con in Arkansas
You must be wondering why I decided to do a review of a con almost a year after attending such event. A busy work schedule and I needed to take care of myself mentally and physically. The last time I wrote a review about a con was nearly four years ago. That con was Arkansas Comic Con, which is held in Little Rock every September. You can read my experiences from that event by going to my profile and then heading to my stories. Without further ado, let's get on with the review.

More Than Just a Cosplay Persona
Since 2014, I've done dozens of cosplays and created a following on multiple social media platforms. Plus, I'm an award-winning cosplayer (I don't make any apologies for calling myself that, because it's true), thanks to the two cosplay contest wins I've achieved in 2019 and 2020 (before the pandemic), cosplay model, retro gamer, activist, influencer, and last but not least, a writer for Vocal since 2018. For years, I've let people dictate what or who I should be, let alone, also telling me what I can or can't do. I'm the driver of my own life, path, and journey. I refuse for others to tell my own story. There's room for everyone to achieve their goals and aspirations.

DragonCon and Crafts
As I start my tiara craft I say to myself, why doesn’t Dragoncon have a small craft like this people can take a part in? The only arts and crafts section when I was there was where you just listen to someone talk about how they make their crafts, but not actually get to do any. Same with the writing. There was no way of writing together and sharing your work, it was just sitting and listening to an author talk about their work. It is either that or a giant expensive project you pay $200 extra for like making a suit or joining in on a writing workshop when the trip is already costly.
