The Aspartame Conspiracy
Earlier this year, my life was devastated. For years my family has made a big deal out of A.G. Barr’s magical Irn-Bru at Christmas times, and it's been a family tradition for the last 20 years to have our fridge glowing orange all the way through to New Year. As you probably know, Barr was forced, among all other soft drinks manufacturers, to submit to a rather restrictive tax in the UK earlier this year—the sugar tax—which obviously presented a pretty uncomfortable decision to these companies, now forced to choose between boosting the price of their products to balance their profits, or redesigning their recipes so that their drinks contain less sugar content and evade the tax entirely.

Will Our All Connected Multimedia Make Us Ill?
Will our all connected, all instantaneous, multimedia capacity make us ill? I see a great deal of media stuff about loneliness and the problems of loneliness but nothing about the detrimental effects of our overwhelming intrusive “society.” We are being encouraged to share every moment of our lives, with “selfie” pictures and with social media posts. Some do not seem able to spend five minutes without telling the world what they are doing.

Mind Over Matter: Does It Matter?
When it comes to our health, we have many more choices now than in previous decades. More people are taking up the alternative medicine, complementary therapy and homoeopathy routes to help treat existing conditions despite the advances technology has to offer.

Conventional vs. Holistic Medicine
Conventional and holistic medicine are both million dollar industries. When it comes down to it, everyone is looking for a cure to what ails them. There are countless arguments for and against both, often with strong options on either side. Whether you prefer westernized medicine or alternative health care, neither are without flaws. After doing a lot of research and talking to people who either work in the industries or have strong beliefs about this subject, I came to a conclusion. First though, I would like to outline a few pros and cons of each type of medicine:

The Changing Face of Plastic Surgery
The decision to get plastic surgery is a deeply personal one. While an entertainer may see cosmetic surgery as a vital career move, others may see it as a necessity. Some, like the maturing Botox generation, want to effectively delay the signs of aging, some want a more exotic look, and some may even have surgeryfor amusement or on a whim.

Autism Isn't Abnormal
The definition of a disability is to be someone with certain characteristics that are different to most people. A neurotypical person on the other hand is defined to have characteristics that fit society’s general layout. Yet the word dis-ability suggests that neurotypicals are able and normal, whereas anyone else is considered of less worth to society.

Just Keep Swimming
For years I have struggled with an unnamed illness that just didn't seem to have a cause. My test results would come back clear. There was no diabetes, Lupus, STDs or arthritis. I'd been diagnosed with interstitial cystitis, IBS, gastro-reflux, severe sleep apnea, depression, and anxiety. Even with treatment for all these other conditions, I still felt constantly sick, achy and fatigued to the extreme. Finally, after a barrage of not so great doctors (who treated me like I was stupid, lying or didn't know my own body), I found an amazing clinic with doctor's who would actually listen to me. I've been diagnosed with fibromyalgia.

Medical Gaslighting
The other day, I came across a really powerful article written by a husband about his wife’s emergency visit to the hospital in which her needs were minimized by the staff. It brought back some bad memories. I was inspired to share the article with women on the various Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder Facebook groups. After all, we are not only women, we are women with PMDD… "a merely hysterical and imagined illness meant to justify our bad moods and suicidal tendencies.”
