The Way Things Used To Be
One cannot help wonder by looking at the events that are occurring around the world today that maybe we would all wish things were back the way they used to be. Long before the Internet and smart phones we managed quite nicely with rotary telephones and remoteless TVs. We actually had to get up to change the TV channel. There were only three channels so there wasn't much debate on what channel to turn to. Not like it is today. Many of us can even remember the days before families got their first television set. Back then the radio was the family entertainment. Imagination is a wonderful experience. But, as we look around today there is too much stress, worry, and even with all those technological marvels of modern living today we really aren't connected like people were those many years ago.

Dear Stress
(Somewhere, 2014) There’s an ongoing ache down the left side of my neck, and I think to myself, Is this psychosomatic pain? Refer to YouTube and WebMD, an article or two on Livestrong about fibromyalgia. I should probably stop searching for all the things wrong with me I likely would live unaware of if I just took a nap, enjoyed several episodes of No Reservations, and shrugged off this generationally iconic dependence on Wi-Fi. I don’t have fibromyalgia, weird news is full of shit about “early onset amnesia” (really a rare variant of Alzheimer’s that occurs in young adulthood. A young bride in Australia supposedly had this condition), and my supervisor in college was right to tell me that I was full of shit when I’d muse and pace over fatal meningitis. Well, I wouldn’t have to come to work tomorrow!

Learning To Smile Again
Before anyone asks, yes, I personally suffer from depression. While many think it's a choice (much like sexual orientation for some reason) I believe it's genetic, as I come from a family of artists and, let's face it, the most creative people seem to have the biggest mental issues.

Start Your Meditation with Contemplation
When I first started meditating it was so difficult. My mind was everywhere and with each thought a strong emotion followed. I felt like I was on an emotional roller coaster and thought, “why in the hell is this going to help me?” I felt so tired after each sitting session.
