Don't ask for my name
Call me mental, but I loath when people ask for my name right off the bat. I get this sour knot at the pit of my stomach and I recoil at the person inwardly. I instantly don’t trust them, and I perceive them as controlling and manipulative. It is a violently negative reaction that I don’t share with anyone. Afterall it is the social norm to start pleasantries with names. To me, though, there is nothing pleasant about such an exchange.

The Healing Warmth of Innocence and Love
Whenever I had a babysitter with me at bedtime, which wasn't nearly as often as I would've liked, I pulled my hardback collection of Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales off the shelf. Then I begged her to read "The Snow Queen" to me.

The delay
In 2019, I was supposed to graduate. I could’ve graduated. But my family couldn’t come and I couldn’t afford summer classes. So I spent another year in an unwelcome theatre program. Where the same people get to grow as artists, being cast in every show. I wanted to fit in and feel included, but I just wasn’t. I would be excluded from parties, events, hangouts. I became depressed. I wanted to make the best of another year of program, but my anxiety took over.

When the Predator is in Your Own Family
When most people think of stalkers who shadow women intent on sexual assault, what they think of is a stranger in black following the innocent woman to her car in some late-night parking lot, chloroform and duct tape in hand. They think of names like Ted Bundy, the Hillside Strangler, the Zodiac killer, and others.
