Challenge
My Writing in 2024
Challenge: Write about your aspirations, as a creator, on Vocal in 2024. The same New Years resolution board is up in my office from 2022. I just added 2023 to it and this year I was thinking of putting a piece of blue duck tape over those dates, writing 2024, and changing just a few things. I write for challenges never expecting to win or place.

Inklings of 2024
I had an alarming conversation today. A friend and former pupil of mine is a writer, who publishes regularly on a site other than this one. My friend complained of the recent proliferation of rumor and gossip and inuendo suggesting that the site plays host to people with dangerous, unsavory ideas. Like a mad old nerd, I pointed out that, as a writer, my friend should simply take this opportunity to do some writing, on the site, about the problem and how best to resolve it. My friend balked, claiming that undertakings of that kind are above his or her or their pay grade.

My Vocal Aspirations
With the new year looming ahead, I have resolved to make a few changes this year, especially when it comes to my writing. I admit I did write a decent amount last year, and I even finally got my book, Of Demons and Deception, published on Amazon! However, I know I could have written more, especially here on Vocal, if I just applied myself better. So my first goal is to publish something on Vocal at least once a week. Whether it would be a submission to a challenge or just a small poem, I plan to become a more frequent and consistent writer here on Vocal, if not in general.

Dear Hubby
Dear Hubby, As I sit down to write this, my heart is heavy with the ache of missing you. It's a kind of ache that goes beyond the physical distance; it's the yearning for the warmth of your presence, the comfort of your embrace, and the solace in your understanding.I want you to know that despite the strong front I often put up, there are moments when I feel the weight of the world on my shoulders, and it becomes overwhelming. In those moments, I long for your support, your comforting words, and the safety of being vulnerable with you. It's not that I don't want to be strong, but sometimes, I just need you to be my refuge.I've always found it challenging to express these feelings, fearing that my words might fall short or convey the wrong message.
