How Can You Beat That
Being a divorced mother of two for more than a decade, I was used to cooking things that I could either make in a hurry or prepare and freeze to thaw the next day. I prepared many freezable meals on the weekends when I had more time. Being in that situation, I found it necessary to work one full time job and one part time. After working my full-time job, I had the time to hurry home, fix dinner to share with my sons, and then race back out to my part time job.

Speechless
Speechless What’d you say? Our son, who lives three hours away from us had become ill and after one week in the hospital, was for the better part of a month, was bedridden. While his wife worked, his teenage daughter, when she wasn’t in school, took over the household chores. The thirteen-year-old grew up in a heartbeat.

Spooning
In my circle of friends, there are those who are, what we call “party animals.” Not only do they enjoy attending parties, they thrive on hosting them. Very often, there is no reason for a get-together. However, we’ll get an email stating, “We’re having a few people over, join us!” After the notation for the date and time, there will be the usual: “Reply only if you’re not coming – but we’re hoping you will attend. It’ll be fun.”

Distractions
I think everyone has a day or two like mine: can’t get a thing done for a variety of reasons. Yes, and I’ll be the first to admit it, I have days where I can sit at my computer and just stare at the blank screen having no energy to write even one word.

The Bleep-Bleep Email
While employed in a small firm as a receptionist, there were many times when I was bored to the point, I felt like taking a nap. Nope, not allowed. Well, of course, it’s not allowed! How would it look if someone came through the door looking for my boss? Hence, naps were not allowed. Neither was doing a crossword puzzle or reading a book. If we had no work, we had to invent it. Oh well, how to amuse myself and push my boredom aside? That was a huge question. Especially since I worked for an enormously strict lawyer. In the time I worked for him, I never once saw him in a good mood. Was it the job that always had him see foul days? Was it just his personality? No idea!

SPLASH
We did it! We thought hard and long about this, well, actually, I thought long and hard. My husband’s mind was made up years before I met him. He was adamant about this, and I was extremely hesitant. He talked me into a vacation that he hoped would change my mind.
